Brixham Beaches

Brixham has several beaches - they are either pebbles and rocks, or shingle/sand.  The main beach - Breakwater Beach is just around the harbour, the other side of the breakwater - this is a pebbly beach, ideal shallow paddling for the kids, going out to deeper water for scuba diving.  A beachside restaurant which serves
A La Carte seafood amongst other dishes (open evenings too, great views), and a beach cafe for takeaway snacks, etc.   This is a popular beach for DIVING activities.  There is a decent sized carpark right by the beach.

There is a charming smaller beach and cove at Fishcombe, this has to be reached on foot - there is a holiday camp nearby.
A favorite beach is at SHOALSTONE - this is situated just beyond breakwater beach.   Here, you will find a terrific salt-water outdoor swimming pool, right by the edge of the sea - and its FREE!   Its supervised by lifeguards, and you can hire sunbeds and deckchairs.    The beach is served by a refreshments kiosk with outdoor tables and chairs.  Kids love this beach - it abounds with warm rock pools left by the tide, where you can take your fishing net.  Ask your kids to be kind to the marine life they catch though - the collection-bucket needs water, pebbles and seaweed in it, so the creatures feel at home until they are returned to the sea when you leave the beach.
There is a lovely cove at MANSANDS beach, which is gained from Higher Brixham - you will have to leave your car at the top of the cliffs and walk down to the beach, its too far to carry too much gear, but its nice if you travel to the beach fairly light!

And there is a picturesque cove at SCABBACOMBE  beach - this is part nudist (the far end)!     Again, you need to leave the car at the top of the cliffs and hike across some fairly steep fields, but the view as you look down is stunning - the blue curve of the sparkling waters in the sunshine, one or two motor yachts anchored just off shore, the green hills - you could easily be on one of the Greek islands.

Of course, there are dozens of other beaches, small and large, some all sand, outside of Brixham at Goodrington, Paignton and Torquay - all within an easy drive.
