Brixham has two main industries - fishing and tourism. Yes, Brixham is picturesque, yes, the cottages are quaint and olde-worlde, and yes, the harbourside is a popular international strolling-ground for tourists... However, what makes Brixham special for is its authenticity - it does not have the sickly sweet taste of a chocolate box resort - rather, it is alive with the sounds, scents and tastes of the fishing industry. Fishing boats chug into the harbour in juxtaposition with the mega yachts and motor cruisers which reside in stately grandeur in the Marina . Tastes? You ask. Fresh fish is sold early each morning from the fish market. Buy it. Try it. Or sample fresh fish from one of the many restaurants. And don't forget that famous British Invention - Fish and Chips. Hmmm. They taste twice as good here in Brixham.
