Geopark status was given to Torbay (English Riviera) in September 2007.

The English Riviera is one of only six in the UK, and 53 around the world to have this unique status but not only that, its the only urban area to have this status.

The new Geopark status will have a dramatic effect across the local community, impacting positively on education, economic regeneration, European partnerships and Torbay's widely acclaimed cultural and heritage sites.

There are many Geopark sites around the English Riviera, all of them are spectacular in their own way.
